Much like Liverpool's season, our planning is hanging by a thread, a thread which is connected to Liverpool's season.
If you think getting tickets to games here is tough, try going to a football match overseas. Liverpool is at home against Sparta Prague in Europa League play on the Thursday we will be there. In order to buy tickets when they become available, you have to have a special membership card which costs £29. I really think it's bullshit that you need to buy something in order to buy tickets but that's how it is. I guess that's why their teeth are so shitty - spending great wads of cash on football club ticket buying memberships leaves little room for cleaning and floss. While I'd like to say I'm ok not taking the 3-4 hour drive up there, I'd be lying if I said we wouldn't exhaust every possibility to see them play while we are there. This IS my team - shitty as last season and this season have been. Besides, I can persevere, I'm a friggin' lifelong Mets, Jets and Islanders fan so one or two bad seasons is nothing. Besides they're winning this morning - yes, I'm up at 7:30 on a Saturday to watch the match.
All that being said, our planning and booking is currently at a stall. I think Jess is booking up to Wednesday, and we're waiting until Monday to see if the tickets become public by then. I will probably check eBay as well to see if we can find any joy there but I really don't want to spend an arm and a leg because the game tix are reasonably priced and then I won't have any money for my six month dental cleaning and then I'll look more Scottish than Italian and we are planning to go back to Italy this summer and quite frankly it's better to blend in there because it can be pretty shady in spots...you can see the downward spiral this is causing.
As it turns out, my goddaughter Deanna won't be on our flight, she's flying Virgin Atlantic leaving about 20 minutes before we do, but hopefully we may get may get to hook up with her at some point over there. Not counting the day we leave, there are 26 days. The next few weeks are going to blow as they are packed with things for work and I know Jess has a bunch to do too so it's going to be pretty interesting and stressful and we always do well with that. Oh yeah, I also need to decide on and paint the front porch and refinish the floors. Why are we going to England?
